Lilly Burchfield
“I have considered the lilies. I have considered how the grow.”
I am soft and feminine but strong and unrelenting in the winds of change surrounding me. Throughout my career I have had seasons of plenty and seasons where it seemed I would not perform again (Thank you global pandemic for that scare). Throughout it all I have found ways to pivot and continue to create and work. Throughout college I teamed up with so many friends and peers to create art while our program reworked it’s season to follow safety procedures. After I graduated college, I was not ready to make the big move, but I knew there was nothing for me in Birmingham, AL. I spent fall of 2022 living in Dublin, Ireland working alongside Pan Pan theatre and their associates. Upon my return to Birmingham I was cast in my first two professional projects within a week of each other: Peter Pan and the acting company of the MD Renaissance Festival. I accepted both offers and moved 700 miles 3 days after the closing of Peter Pan. I have been blessed enough to have worked on a number of projects since my arrival in DC. There have been slow times, though and they get scary, especially after quitting retail for the first time in 3 years. That change pushed me to return to my love of carpentry and stage managing that I discovered in college. I have worked alongside the carpenters and technicians at Keegan Theatre and Studio Theatre in DC. I have grown so much since my move and the environment I am in continues to strengthen and test me.
